Reimbursing Testamentary Costs

Reasonable expenses you or any other person incurs from personal funds relating to the administration of the estate and funeral can be reimbursed from the estate.

Typically the following costs directly related to the estate may be considered for reimbursement from the estate if substantiated with a receipt or other official document:

  • Accountant fees
  • Financial advisor fees
  • Funeral and related costs
  • Cemetery and interment fees
  • Application fees including probate lodgement, birth certificate application
  • Insurance premiums
  • Valuation fees
  • House clearance fees
  • Storage fees
  • Security monitoring fees
  • Cleaning fees
  • Real estate agent fees
  • Travel costs and parking fees
  • Phone costs
  • Postage fees
  • Document preparation

A complete list of expenses should be submitted to all beneficiaries along with a request for agreement and sign-off to make payment to the person who incurred the expenses.
