Bereavement Assistance and After Death Care
Whether the deceased person was a family member, friend, or simply someone you’re helping out death is a difficult time and your wellbeing is important.
Many people feel like they need to manage the deceased estate administration – whilst this may be your choice as you want full control over the decision making, or you think the estate is too small to warrant paying for support – we are available to help you with as much or as little of the estate administration process as you need.

Government bereavement allowances and support payments
The Australian Government and its Departments offer a range of support services and bereavement support payments when in difficult financial situations.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs
If the deceased received a pension or other payments from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) you or the dependant may be eligible for support. The DVA website outlines available bereavement supports.
Social Services
The deceased’s dependants may be eligible for bereavement allowances and services offered by Services Australia. Contact 132 300 for more information.
Accessing Superannuation
If the death results in severe financial hardship the deceased person’s superannuation death benefit may be accessed early. Contact individual funds for more information
Note: the maximum payment is $10,000 which will be taxed as a superannuation lump sum as per the ATO guidelines.
